Texture task

Another task from this week's reader was to practice texture masking on Photoshop. The task was intended to include the garden layout from last week's exercise however I added texture to that design originally. Using the layout plan created for this week's design I've tried a new more personalised, hand-finished style. I've been experimenting with Photoshop's AI generation tool to create textures using text prompts and have used that for the herbaceous planting areas and zen sand swirls. What I found interesting is how the rendering style changes when you add 'plan view' into the prompt. The software recognised that this was a hand drawing and would add 'hand drawn' textures into the generated lineup. The concentric circles, sand swirls and 'topiary' were generated through those prompts as well as the almost linocut print styles border hedging.

My feelings relating to AI generation in creative disciplines are mixed. However, I am not opposed to their utilisation as long as the original creative ideas stem from a human mind. I prefer to treat AI as a tool to be used by designers, and am against its role as a substitute for a human employee. AI, or at least the more easily available public versions, are not yet up to scratch to independently render aesthetically accurate tasks like this.
