Alphabet series - T
Getting close to the end now with letter 20 of 26, T. Seen in the ornate white decorative wooden facade flanking the main door. This photo is from the Madrasa Ben Youssef in Marrakech. Bin Yusuf is an Islamic madrasa, meaning college. The madrasa is named after the next-door Ben Youssef Mosque and was commissioned in 1564–65 CE by the Saadian sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib. Today it functions as a historical site open for the public and tourists. The Ben Youssef Madrasa was the largest Islamic college in the Maghreb at its height and is widely recognized as a pinnacle of Saadian and Moroccan architecture. The madrasa's floor plan occupies an almost square space, approximately 40 by 43 meters. It was one of the first places I visited in Morroco as it was under a 10-minute walk from my hostel. The detail in the architecture is absolutely incredible.
