Eden Project Materiality
While visiting the Eden Project I recorded elements of the hardscaping I found interesting. The ergonomic bench shown attached is one of such.
What most interested me was its organic form and slight curvature to fit the brick-paved floor. It also utilises both soft natural wood which has weather, and sharper synthetic painted green metal topped with clear acrylic. From a design perspective, the blend of materials is a successful transition from the hard-paved area to the softer naturalised planting area, while also filling the important seating purpose in a public attraction. I can see this image being a referenced constriction concept for future amenity projects.
