Quarry Wetland - Rifle Range Nature Park - Singapore

A personal highlight during my hike through Rifle Range (aside from baby monkeys) was the former Sin Seng Quarry, which has now been converted to a beautifully landscaped, educational Wetland. Originally a granite quarry that was once 55m deep, it is now a thriving freshwater habitat accessible via extensive boardwalks starting at the education centre in the previous post. The best view of the wetland comes from Colugo Deck, see the first picture, which is 31m above the main pond. As tall as a 10-storey building, the deck is one of Singapore’s tallest viewing points in the nature parks. With a design inspired by the Malayan Colugo (flying lemur) with its limbs outstretched and in flight.
