Feature Paving - Therapeutic Garden at Jurong Lake Gardens

Opened in 2021, the Therapy Garden at Jurong Lake Gardens is the largest therapeutic garden in Singapore. Spanning 3,100m2 the Garden consists of two main sections. One is designed for adults and the other for children. With specially curated features for seniors with dementia, and children with conditions such as mild autism and ADHD respectively. All components are wheelchair-accessible. The adult zone provides a space for reminiscing, with plants arranged in zones including; a fragrance zone, an Edibles zone and a Plant Zoo. The zone also includes 'nostalgic' features like a stone chess table. There is also a shelter with an extended trellis and movable planters which serve as an activity hub during organised community events. Located next to the shelter are also two movable raised planters that permit wheelchair users to garden.
The children's zone, as mentioned already, is specifically designed to cater for children with mild autism, ADHD and a range of physical disabilities. There are also various sensory zones in the main children's zone. With sections for smell, touch, sound and sight, and special inclusive play elements, like adapted musical instruments, a wheelchair-friendly crawling trellis, and a labyrinth with glow-in-the-dark pathways and floor imprints of the animals and insects found in Jurong Lake Gardens.
The children's section is connected to the adult’s section of the Therapeutic Garden and also adjoins the Butterfly Maze in an aim to provide more opportunities for young visitors to interact with nature and benefit from the therapeutic effects of flora.
