Fan Vaulting - Gloucester Cloisters
The inspiration for the spatial design of Ashalr Park was the fan vaulting that decorated the cloisters in Gloucester Cathedral. Crafted in the Gothic perpendicular style, the vaulting webs in geometric patterns and fans out on the ceiling in semi-circles. As a piece of medieval architecture, they are world-renowned and often considered the finest example of the Gothic perpendicular style. Below is a pencil sketch of the vaulting repeated to create a perspective view.
