Contour Model - CAD Base
The file for the model was created using a scaled CAD base imported from Ordnance Survey. As the model is 1:500, the contours had to be scaled down to 1:1 to be correctly interpreted by the laser cutting. Working systematically with a colour gradient was the easiest way for me to structure the intended topographical relief and was the most efficient way for me to track my levels when separating the file into the 13 main A2 cutting files and detail fill layers. The dark orange layer represents the base water level of the River Severn, which fluctuates around 0.4 - 0.6m. The closer to yellow/white, the lower the level, and the cooler the tone (purples/blues), the higher.
