Rifle Range Nature Park - Singapore

A reasonably new attraction, Rifle Range Park opened in 2022 and is now protected as part of Singapores Central Nature Park Network. Located on the former Sin Seng Quarry site, the park promotes education and ecological connectivity and includes long stretches of boardwalks and hiking trails. The 67-hectare park is also Singapore's first net-positive energy nature park, aiming to restore its natural forest and wetland habitat while integrating water-sensitive solutions and fauna protection schemes.

What impressed me most when visiting was the clear attention to detail and quality. I entered via the boardwalks leading to the Hutan Campus education centre in the East, and was immediately greeted with custom-engraved paving and signage educating me on the site and its animals. Sugar gliders and plantain squirrels were a popular motif, seen in the raised plasma cut metal signs and cast sculptures. The education centre, featuring gabion walls and on-site water treatment terraces, is used by the Singapore Forest School and includes permanent exhibits about the plants and animals found on site.
The park's main feature trails are its accessible boardwalks, taking visitors through the different canopy lares of the island's jungle. Overall the visit was awe-inspiring and definitely set the standard for amenity park projects.
